Maritime Training Instructor – Abu Dhabi Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE Contract Type: Freelance / Short-Term Contract Duration: 15 training days + 3-5 Prep Days (paid!) Start Date: Early November 2026 Day Rate: TBC Potential: Opportunity for further / longer-term work Role Overview We are looking for two experienced Maritime Training Instructors to support the delivery of a 15-day vessel-based training programme in Abu Dhabi. The programme will focus on practical maritime training, including vessel familiarisation, emergency procedures and drills. Instructors will be expected to confidently deliver professional, practical and operationally relevant training. This role would suit an experienced current or former Royal Navy professional, or someone with a comparable maritime background, who is comfortable instructing personnel in a vessel-based environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver practical maritime training to client personnel. Conduct and facilitate emergency drills and emergency response training. Deliver vessel familiarisation training, including onboard systems, procedures and routines. Explain maritime safety procedures clearly and confidently. Facilitate practical exercises and scenario-based training. Ensure training is delivered safely and in accordance with the agreed programme. Provide feedback on trainee performance where required. Work closely with the client and wider instructional team throughout delivery. Maintain a professional and credible instructional presence at all times. Preferred Background Previous Royal Navy service is highly desirable, particularly in a seagoing role. Candidates with a strong comparable maritime background will also be considered. Experience working onboard naval, commercial or specialist vessels. Strong understanding of vessel safety and emergency procedures. Previous experience delivering training, instruction or coaching. Confidence conducting practical exercises and drills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt training to different levels of experience. Location Candidates already based in the UAE are strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates based in Abu Dhabi, followed by Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE. Contract Details 15 paid training days. Expected start at the beginning of November 2026. Freelance engagement. Potential for additional work following successful completion of the initial programme. Ideal Candidate This role would be particularly well suited to a former Royal Navy professional who has transitioned into maritime operations, training or consultancy and is looking for short-term freelance opportunities within the UAE. Candidates should be practical, credible, personable and comfortable delivering training in an operational maritime environment.
