About the Role
VETWORK is supporting the search for an experienced EHS Manager to oversee Environmental, Health & Safety performance across major construction and engineering projects.
This is a leadership role requiring a proactive and visible presence on site. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and senior management to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest industry standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving safety culture, monitoring compliance, supporting operational teams and ensuring all health, safety and environmental requirements are consistently achieved throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures across project sites.
• Ensure projects remain compliant with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Monitor corrective actions and ensure identified issues are closed out within agreed timescales.
• Support project teams with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Ensure permit-to-work systems are implemented and managed effectively.
• Monitor site welfare, housekeeping and environmental controls.
• Ensure COSHH requirements are correctly managed and controlled.
• Deliver safety briefings, coaching and guidance to project teams.
• Build and promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the business.
• Produce reports and communicate EHS performance to senior stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• Previous experience in an EHS Manager, Senior HSE Advisor or similar role.
• Strong experience working within construction or engineering environments.
• Thorough understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence and challenge when required.
• Effective planning, organisational and decision-making abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Data centre, pharmaceutical, logistics or advanced manufacturing experience.
• IOSH Membership.
• Experience managing or mentoring HSE teams.
• Knowledge of environmental management systems and compliance requirements.
• Experience working on fast-paced, multi-contractor project sites.
