About the Role
VETWORK is supporting the search for experienced Design Managers to join a growing project delivery team working across major construction and engineering projects throughout the UK and Europe.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a Structural Engineering background, although applications from Civil Engineers and Architects with relevant project experience are also welcomed.
This role will be responsible for managing the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and in line with client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage design programmes, deliverables and technical approvals.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Ensure design information is issued accurately and on schedule.
• Review technical designs and identify potential risks, clashes and coordination issues.
• Drive collaboration between design, commercial and construction teams.
• Support project delivery by ensuring designs are practical, buildable and compliant.
• Monitor design progress and report on key milestones and challenges.
• Contribute to value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and project requirements.
Essential Requirements
• Degree-qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Design Manager or within a senior design coordination role.
• Strong understanding of construction and project delivery processes.
• Experience managing consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within fast-paced project environments.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Requirements
• Structural Engineering background.
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Data centre, logistics, industrial or advanced manufacturing project experience.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Experience with BIM and modern design management processes.
